Maria Kannegaard Trio
The violinist winners Maria Kannegaard Trio take on the Kongsberg Jazz Festival!
Newly minted Spellemann winners for the festival!
When the Maria Kannegaard Trio re-entered the Norwegian jazz scene in 2019 after several years of absence, they were met with euphoric feedback from both the audience, the jazz press and musicians.
The public has been waiting a long time for a follow-up to the record "Camel Walk" from 2008, and in 2020 the trio finally released "Sand i en vik", a record which has rightly excited a large audience and which recently received the Spellemannsprisen for 2020 in the jazz category. We congratulate!
Maria Kannegaard is considered one of Scandinavia's most prominent pianists, and she has undoubtedly inspired and influenced several generations of music students at Norwegian jazz education. Her music has a unique ability to move listeners. There are powerful projections, richness of nuance, complexity and simplicity in a beautiful combination. Everything wrapped up in an undoubtedly "Kannegaardian" universe.
In 2010, Maria Kannegaard received the Kongsberg Jazz Festival's major musician prize, which she acknowledged with a prize-winning concert in the old Kongsberg cinema the following year. Now we can't wait to hear Maria Kannegaard again at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival!
