Krokofant & Mats Gustafsson
The trio Crocophant, with Jørgen Mathisen (sax) and the Kongsberg musicians Tom Hasslan (guitar) and Axel Skalstad (drums), have marked themselves emphatically in the music landscape in recent years. With their exceptionally energetic and fierce expression, they have excited both jazz listeners and rock fans. Now they face a new challenge. They will play at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival with none other than Mats Gustafsson as a guest!
Mats Gustafsson is a true institution in contemporary jazz. Hardly anyone can convey as much energy and vitality as he does. He is a primal force – something he has shown many times in bands such as The Thing, Fire! and countless other bands. This year too - as last year - it is likely that the Krokofant concert will become the big talk of the festival.
Mats Gustafsson, who in 2011 received the Nordic Council's Music Award, was Artist in Residence at Moldejazz last year, where he did six very different projects, including his own Petter Northug tribute!
