Crocophant
Krokofant back at Energimølla – intense, raw and full of life!

When Krokofant enters the stage at Kongsberg Jazz Festival 2026, it will be with both weight, direction and renewed power. The band has for years been one of the most uncompromising and headstrong names in Norwegian jazz and prog rock – and now they return to Energimølla.
After the tragic loss of the drummer Axel Skalstad in 2025, chose Tom Haslan og Jorgen Mathisen to carry the band forward. With them they now have Ole Mofjell on drums and Rune Nergaard on bass – two distinctive musicians who add both weight and dynamics. The result is a quartet that sounds bigger, freer and more pumped up than ever.
Krokofant has always moved at the intersection between the riff-heavy and the explosive, between structure and freedom. They appeal to rock fans, free jazzers and anyone with Mahavishnu Orchestra or King Crimson in their spines – but they also have a clear, personal expression that is entirely their own. Here you get juicy guitar parts, raw and energetic saxophone playing, precise arrangements and solos that really take their place.
For us at Kongsberg Jazz Festival, it means a lot to be able to wish Krokofant welcome backThe band has roots in our city, but has long since made its mark nationally and internationally. The concert will be a meeting between heritage and renewal – and proof that music can carry on, even when there is a storm.
This is the evening for those who want to feel it in their chest. For those who like it when jazz pushes the boundaries – and when the Energy Mill really boils.
