Karin Krog & The In-Between-Times
An important artist both for Norwegian jazz and the Kongsberg Jazz Festival
Karin Krog is without a doubt one of the country's most important jazz musicians, and has been since she debuted with her first solo record in 1964. Karin Krog performed at the very first edition of the Kongsberg Jazz Festival in 1964, and through a long career has constantly been able to renew herself . She has experimented with vocal techniques, toured the world with both Norwegian and international fellow musicians and built up a large audience both at home and abroad. Karin Krog sings with a warm, expressive voice that conveys a text in such a way that you believe in it. Despite more than sixty years in the service of jazz, her voice bears no signs of wear at all, and collaborators include such figures as John Surman, Dexter Gordon, Archie Shepp, Don Ellis, Steve Kuhn, Palle Mikkelborg, Bengt Hallberg, Red Mitchell and Warne Marsh , in addition to Norwegian legends such as Arild Andersen, Jan Garbarek, Jon Christensen and Egil Kapstad. She has been honored with the Buddy statuette, the Order of St. Olav, the Anders Jahres Kulturpris and the French "Prix du Jazz Vocal Europe".
Guitarist Staffan William-Olsson is known from The Real Thing, Sharp Nine, Babylon Brothers and Staffan William-Olsson Trio, but has also played with Mezzoforte, Hot Club de Norvège and Adam Nussbaum. Terje Gewelt is one of Norway's most used bassists, has released twelve CDs under his own name and plays on over a hundred record releases with artists such as Billy Cobham, Enrico Pieranunzi and Christian Jacob.
After ten years together, the trio has developed a chamber-like interplay, whether it is original compositions or songs from The Great American Songbook. Playful, swinging, gripping and virtuoso!
