John Scofield's Long Days Quartet
A tribute to the long, bright days in July!
With clear inspiration from both jazz, rock and blues guitarists John scofield, along with Pat Metheny and Bill Frisell, has been the dominant jazz guitarist since the 1980s. With international breakthrough at Miles Davis, extensive collaboration with groups such as Medeski, Martin and Wood and with famous jazz people such as Charles Mingus, Charlie Haden, Joe Lovano and many more - as well as buckets of records and Grammy awards, he is today one of the most central musicians on today's international jazz scene.
Now he is coming to the Kongsberg Jazz Festival with a brand new band: John Scofield's Long Days Quartet. The band has been specially put together to tour in July 2025, and the band name is a tribute to the long, bright days of July. Here he resumes his collaboration with the keyboard master John Medeski. The quartet will perform new, groovy compositions by Scofield, as well as classic Sco material in a new and funky version. Be prepared for a firework of funk and blues-inspired jazz!
