Jenny Hval and Susanna: Meshes of Voice

Concert start: 14:00 Single ticket price: NOK 320

Jenny Hval and Susanna recently received the Spellemannpris for their critically acclaimed collaboration; Meshes of Voice. Now the two award winners are ready for the Kongsberg jazz festival!

Meshes of Voice is originally a commissioned work that was first performed at the Henie Onstad art center in 2009. The first performance was recorded, but only five years later was Meshes of Voice on record a long-awaited reality - to the great delight of fans and followers of the two unique solo artists.

Jenny Hval and Susanna Wallumrød can eventually be regarded as two of the strongest and most original voices in Norwegian musical life. Separately, they both have solid solo careers, and together they are now behind a project that has been praised by both critics and music lovers, and was recently honored with the Spellemannspris in the "Open class" category.

Meshes of Voice presents the listeners with a captivating universe consisting of confidences and seductions, where mythical creatures are an important source of inspiration. That the release asserted itself in the category "Open class" is characteristic of the music, which is difficult to place in a clear genre booth; dreamy and melodious parts are stitched together with noisy and cacophonous landscapes and take the listener on a fascinating journey into Susanna and Jenny Hval's very own musical world.

British music magazine The Quiteus placed Meshes of Voice in the top ten of the best releases in 2014, and also Norwegian newspapers such as Dagbladet and Dagsavisen had the album high up on their top lists, when last year was to be summarized.

We congratulate Jenny Hval and Susanna on the well-deserved Spellemannpris and look forward to hearing Meshes of Voice at Kongsberg!
