The Jazz Singer
USA 1927
1 hour 29 minutes
Directed by Alan Crosland

The world's first feature film with sound is now available in a restored version! The film tells the story of Jakie Rabinowitz, a young man who defies the traditions of his Jewish family. Ostracized by his family, he paints his face black and becomes the jazz singer Jack Robin. The film is, of course, horribly politically incorrect by today's standards, but an interesting - and actually quite moving - testimony from a bygone era.
