Jazz film: Johan Hauknes: THE JAZZ ADVENTURE AT KONGSBERG
In April this year, NRK launched the TV series Jazzeventyret, a story about Norwegian jazz after 1965. You can watch the entire series on NRK's online TV

Johan Hauknes, jazz writer, researcher and long-time lecturer at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival, has reviewed the series in the online magazine salt peanuts*. It's a great series, but it has some glaring flaws.
On the occasion of the NRK series, and on the occasion that in August it will be 60 years since the first jazz weekend was held at Kongsberg, Hauknes returns this year with a new lecture which he has called The Jazz Adventure at Kongsberg. Not only will it be a reflection on the Kongsberg Jazz Festival's history and its importance for the development of the Norwegian jazz adventure, but Hauknes will also try to provide a supplementary response to NRK's series, and with that seek to rectify and fill in some of the series' missing pages .
The main focus of the lecture will be on the position Norwegian jazz has had in the jazz festival's programme, and on the festival's significance for the development of Norwegian jazz over the past sixty years.
