Editor, jazz guru and Kongsberg friend Johan Hauknes is back, and this year he is talking about the influential arranger and composer George Russell, who would have turned 100 this year. The focus is on Russell's performances at Kongsberg in the 70s. Before the kåserie, Åge Hoffart and Kristian Ludvik-Bøhmer present the festival's extensive archive project.
Russell had a great influence on the generation of Norwegian jazz musicians who made their mark towards the end of the 60s and during this class we will hear, among other things, Russell's legendary commissioned piece "Listen to the Silence", which was performed in Kongsberg Church in 1971.
