JAZZ FILM: A New Journey, Blue Velvet Blues and More Woman More Cry
Short film program with director's visit. About. 1 hour 30 minutes
A new journey (Odd Magnus Grimeland) is an honest and beautiful portrayal of a hopeful and crazy time, when a whole generation searched for the very core of existence. Based on one of Nils Yttri's strongest poems, the film brings out the essence of the 1970s search for basic human values with care and force.
Blue Velvet Blues (Odd Magnus Grimeland) is an essayistic documentary film about the old and abandoned Lyster sanatorium (Harastølen) to music by the psychedelic Japanese band Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso UFO. The image page documents the sanatorium's history and decay in a visual reflection that dresses the music's suggestive melancholy.
More Woman More Cry (Anne Haugsgjerd) is a thought-provoking film that captures both the beautiful and the fragile in life. With clairvoyance, great imagination and powerful humour, it provides thought-provoking reflections on family, art, aging and the circle of life in a humorous and poetic way. Unabashed, but full of doubts, the film shows a liberated filmmaker assessing his life and asking the question: What now?
