REMEMBRANCE – a tribute to all daughters, mothers and women!

The collaboration between Knut Reiersrud, Solveig Lettahjell og In the Country is a musical stroke of luck! They came together for a concert in Berlin Philharmonic in 2014, which resulted in Spellemann nominees the live album NORWEGIAN WOODS. In 2015 they went to the legendary Rainbow Studio and made their first studio album TRAIL OF SOULS, and now they are out with a new album, REMEMBRANCE.

REMEMBRANCE is a unique feminist music project with strong poetic voices. The three English sisters bronte and American Emily Dickinson The Brontë sisters wrote on their own continents nearly 200 years ago. They had an enormous output of very high quality, and often with very emotional lyrics, which resonate with us to this day. They wrote under pseudonyms and the Brontë sisters all died early due to tuberculosis.

Morten Qvenild has wanted to elevate these "nameless" artists in the face of his own compositions, and to do this he has brought his regular trio In the Country, Knut Reiersrud, Solveig Slettahjell and Sidsel Endresen into the studio.

From opposite sides of the Atlantic, the authors Brontë and Dickinson illuminate each other, and a beautiful and profound dialogue arises in the music. With great contrasts, it is both grounded, while at the same time cultivating a modern expression with cool sounds, unexpected timbres and electroacoustically based collages, anchored through traditional songwriting.
