String quartet Hot Club de Norvège is 40 years old in 2019, and the band is celebrating with a year of tours throughout Norway – and no fewer than three new albums.
Hot Club de Norvège have been on the road pretty much continually since 1979. On their unique journey, starting out as street musicians, they were responsible for the revival of interest in Django Reinhardt in Norway in the 1970s and in the European gypsy camps in the 1980s, and made their international breakthrough in the 1990s.
In their anniversary year the band will give concerts from Honningsvåg in the north of Norway to Gibraltar, and we are happy that we will also be able to experience their infectious joy in music and virtuosic string style at Kongsberg Jazz this year.
