Hilde Marie Holsen & Joshua Abrams solo
There will be a double solo concert when Hilde Marie Holsen from Jølster and Joshua Abrams from Chicago are guests of Galleri Åkern
Hilde Marie Holsen has found his own way with trumpet and electronics at an intersection between jazz, drone and contemporary music.
Through sound processing of the trumpet, Holsen creates an electronic universe. Often with a melancholic expression. This is how Holsen creates an original soundscape, which can be experienced as warm, fragile and sharp - but also powerful and dynamic.
The end result is music that is uniquely individual and highly distinctive. Forget any comparisons, Holsen is without parallel. Even more so than Ask did, Lazuli signals the arrival of a bright new star, All About Jazz
In the spring of 2015, Hilde Marie released her debut album "Ask" on the record company Hubro, which created a lot of attention among the international music press - with reviews from The Guardian, The Wire and The Quietus among others. In addition, the album was mentioned as a highlight from 2015 through NRK P2's programme, Jazzklubben her hjemme i Norge.
In 2018, Holsen came out with the sequel "Lazuli" on Hubro, an album that was described as "almost shockingly perfect".

Joshua Abrams has for many years been a central part of the improv and free jazz scene in Chicago and through that work has become a favorite at clubs and festivals in both the USA and Europe. He has played with such different things as Joe McPhee, Tortoise and The Roots, and we are very happy to be able to present him all alone with the double bass at Åkern.
There we get to take part in Abrams' ongoing experimentation with the bass in the solo format, and we dare to predict that it will form both a basis and a contrast to the experience we get with the Natural Information Society at Energimølla at seven o'clock that same evening.
