Henriette Eilertsen: Just a Universe – commissioned work

Jazz flute with the music and the moment in focus.

Concert starts: 14:00 Single ticket price: NOK 390

Henriette Eilertsen, last year's recipient of the Kongsberg Jazz Festival Musician Award -DNB Award, now coming back with the order form Just a Universe.

Eilertsen has established herself as a distinct voice on the Norwegian and Scandinavian jazz and improvisational scene in just a few years. She is known for mixing composed and improvised elements in a particularly captivating way, and as the country's first jazz flutist with a bachelor's degree in jazz performance, she has paved the way for new ways of thinking about the flute in modern jazz

Eilertsen made her debut with the solo album POEMS FOR FLUTE (2021). It was very positively received and resulted in her being selected as one of 6 young promising jazz musicians in Europe for the Footprints tour program. The following year, she made the album HAPPY VILLAGE with the band Master Oogway, which was among others Spellemann nominee.

In the ordering office Just a Universe we get to dive into Eilertsen's universe of playful rhythmic and suggestive progressions, melodies with friendly nods to flutes from far and near. With an untamed and inviting look at something as big, and something as small as a universe. The music and the moment in focus.

When Henriette Eilertsen comes to the Kongsberg Jazz Festival, she brings her own trio, Henriette Eilertsen Trio, on the occasion expanded with three special guests. All of them have individually influenced the Scandinavian jazz scene in their own way.

Join us on a journey into a unique universe, and a new and exciting encounter with the flute's many possibilities.

Nils Berg (SE) – woodwind
