Hellbillies
Hellbillies anno 2019 is thus better than ever!

Hellbillies - one of Norway's most successful bands - embark on a new tour. Or is that what they actually do? With more than 1700 concerts during their currently 28-year existence, the band has driven up and down through "a slightly too long country" more and further than most. They have practically never stopped. With this, we can agree that Hellbillies have earned a well-deserved status as one of the country's very best live bands.
Aslag promises that the Hellbillies will play varied sets, with songs from almost all the records in the band's catalog. "There have been 11 studio albums over the years, so there is a lot to take in," adds Aslag.
The Hellbillies have been entertaining audiences in every nook and cranny in Norway since 1990. They have sold around 1 million albums, have an ever-growing fan base and still garner fantastic feedback from critics and the public.
“Hellbillies are rock solid and always sound great. Quality is never a mistake for us, which is why we are looking forward to seeing one of the country's best live bands. The last time they visited the festival, it was more than sold out, and I was harassed by people wondering if I could "fix" some tickets. That's why I recommend people buy tickets first and last," Kai Gustavsen, festival manager
What keeps the Hellbillies touring the way they do year after year? “The band is perhaps in better shape than ever before. Now everything fits so incredibly well, it's just something you feel when you go on stage, that it's full force from the first note," says Aslag Haugen.
Hellbillies anno 2019 is thus better than ever!
Original members Arne Moslåtten and Arne Sandum are out of Hellbillies, with all the changes that entails. Today's lineup therefore consists of Aslag on vocals and guitar, his brother Lars Håvard on guitar and drummer Bjørn Gunnar Sando, with the two associate members Egil Stemkens on bass and Lars Christian Narum on keyboards. It is a hard-hitting quintet that meets the audience.
From Hellbillies' start as a cover band with retellings of American country songs, they have changed considerably and become a full-blooded rock'n'roll band, but all the while stuck to their local roots from Hallingdal. Aslag has previously stated that he was quickly amazed at how well the lyrics went home in other parts of the country, which turned out to have similar figures such as Syver, Jimmy Embrik, Birgjit and other figures from Arne Moslåtten's text universe.
Moslåtten disappeared from the band a few years ago, but has continued to deliver lyrics to the band. There is also the well-reputed artist, lyricist and Dylan interpreter Tom Roger Aadland, who was asked if he wanted to try out for the Hellbillies' so far last record, Søvnlaus from 2016. Here are eight of 12 lyrics written by Aadland, the remaining four by Moslåtten . According to Aslag, a new lyricist has added a slightly different approach to the band, but for the next album - likely to be released in 2020 in connection with the 30th anniversary - Moslåtten and Aadland will probably be able to contribute equally.
