Hedvig Mollestad Trio
Energetic riffs and new album!

Super guitarist Hedvig Mollestad has been named by Downbeat as one of the 25 who will shape jazz in the coming years, and in May she will release her 8th album with the Hedvig Mollestad Trio: BEES IN THE BONNET on Rune Grammofon.
Mollestad's music has, for obvious reasons, been heavily featured in, among others, NY Times, Rolling Stone, MOJO, Pitchfork, Jazzwise and Prog. The trio, with Ellen Brekken on bass and Ivar Loe Bjørnstad on drums, creates engaging music, regardless of genre. Is it jazz or rock? Stoner swing? Doom jazz? Classic Rock Magazine suggested Jazz Sabbath! The love child of Mahavishnu Orchestra and Black Sabbath! Or was it Terje Rypdal and King Crimson?
This spring, the trio takes a step forward and sideways in their musical development. The title of the new album is a reference to a thought that won't let go, an expression that points to the intense, but also playful energy that has shaped the band's musical landscape from the start. The album is a direct result of tours, where the interaction with the audience has been an important catalyst for the development of the music. Here it sweeps through energetic riffs, complicated interplay, howling solos and the steady pensive ballad. Here is the free, exploratory spirit, but with calm, concentration, and a solid internal structure. Hard to place, easy to recognize!
Hedvig Mollestad Trio live always gives us a kick and new, uplifted energy! The main goal for Mollestad is always to look for the joy of playing, and to share this with the listener. Everyone who has experienced the trio on stage unanimously agrees!
