The Hanna Paulsberg Concept quartet has convincingly established itself in the consciousness of all jazz listeners as an exquisite continuation of the solid, American jazz tradition where we sense that Wayne Shorter, Stan Getz and Joe Henderson are lurking behind the curtain.
Hanna Paulsberg Concept came out with their first record, "Waltz for Lilli", in 2012. It was met with thunderous applause from both critics and the general jazz public. The next record, "Song for Josia" (2014), received the same positive reception. In a few days there will be another record, "Eastern Smiles". Sporadic pre-listening confirms that the band confirms and reinforces its position. The record will be released on Odin, Norsk Jazzforum's old record company that released many legendary Norwegian jazz records in the 80s and 90s. This will be the first reissue from there since 1993.
Hanna Paulsberg has toured the world with musicians and bands such as Marilyn Mazur, Chris Minh Doky, Marius Neset, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, European Jazz Orchestra and more. She is a saxophonist in a special class and comes across as a confident, mature and mature musician. She swings effortlessly and temperamentally in the fast songs, and she plays the ballads so thoughtfully and with such a relaxed authority that notions of Dexter Gordon and Stan Getz appear far behind somewhere. Then add that pianist Oscar Grönberg, bassist Trygve Waldemar Fiske and drummer Hans Hulbækmo place themselves in the same exquisite division and do everything right - and then some. All four of these musicians have the greatest credit for making every concert with Hanna Paulsberg Concept a refreshing musical experience!
