"There were a dangerous number of climaxes."
-Jazzwise (Martin Longley)

Drummer, composer and band leader Gard Nilssen is known for his multifaceted musical projects. Supersonic Orchestra is for him a dream come true, with absolutely all his favorite musicians on board! The band needs no further introduction other than that they are all stars and world-class bandleaders and improvisers. The music is energetic, suggestive, dynamic, creative and explosive and draws inspiration from all corners of the world, such as Ornette Coleman, Fela Kuti, Alice Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Chris McGregor, Louis Moholo & Curtis Mayfield.

In Supersonic Orchestra, each musician is given ample freedom to put their own personal touch on the music, making every concert with the band indisputably unique and exciting.

The first two albums IF YOU LISTEN CAREFULLY, THE MUSIC IS YOURS (2020) and FAMILY (2023) received rave reviews worldwide. We are incredibly excited to experience the new music with the ultimate big band Gard Nilssen's Supersonic Orchestra!
