Friends & Neighbors

The quintet Friends & Neighbors impressively manages to combine the legacy of 1960s free jazz with a highly contemporary expression. With their both energetic and melodic music, conveyed by extremely skilled musicians, they have managed to establish themselves in the consciousness of many jazz listeners.
Friends & Neighbors have now released two records that brilliantly document the band's qualities. The band plays a refreshing musical alloy where legends like Albert Ayler, Ornette Coleman and Don Cherry giggle with satisfaction - and not a little impressed! - forward behind the curtain. And anyone who gets associations with Archie Shepp and Eric Dolphy is definitely not alone. It is of course no coincidence that Friends & Neighbors is the name of a composition - and a record - by Ornette Coleman.
For den som liker sin jazz energisk og fri, men samtidig melodisk, er debt det perfekte band!
Thomas Johansson (trumpet)
André Roligheten (sax, bass clarinet)
Oscar Grönberg (piano)
Jon Rune Strøm (double bass)
Tollef Østvang (drums)
