Morning jazz: Kongsberg Storband // Lindis Botolfsen: Down & Out
True to tradition, this year there will also be a juicy mid-day party on the outdoor stage at Gamle Norge festival Saturday.
The vocalist Lindis Botolfsen from Kongsberg has previously given fine concerts at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival. Now she comes with a brand new project: Lindis Botolfsen – Down & Out. They present music with both punch and melancholy and will perform highlights of some of the greats of music history, such as Billie Holiday, Monica Zetterlund and Bjørk. With her in the band, she has several people who are well known to Kongsberg's audience.
Kongsberg Big Band has gradually become very popular, and it is fully deserved. Under their skilled leader Jon Gunnar Tovsrud, the musicians who enjoy playing ensure that the music both swings and bubbles and is full of punch. Don't overlook the fact that we get impressive vocal performances from some of the band's youngest members.
