With their attractive mix of jazz, psychedelic rock and noise, the Swedish trio have FIRE! occupied a central place on the contemporary music scene. With formidable energy and high-voltage intensity, it has time and again set its audience on fire!
The trio consists of Mats Gustafsson (saxophones, Fender Rhodes, electronics), Johan Berthling (bass) and Andreas Werlin (drums, lap steel guitar). Mats Gustafsson is a well-known giant in the free jazz landscape; wherever he plays, he leaves his powerful mark on the music. In Norway, he is probably best known for his collaboration with Paal Nilssen-Love and Ingebrigt Håker Flaten in the power trio The Thing. Johan Berthling has also played with Paal Nilssen-Love, and he is highly sought after as a co-star in the somewhat loud and free contexts. We know Andreas Werlin from the successful duo Wildbirds & Peacedrum. FOUR! recently released a new album. 'She Sleeps. She Sleeps'. Raving reviews everywhere, of course.
