Festival exhibition: Tor Hvamen
Festival exhibition – open every day from 12:00-19:00
The potter who became an artist; which is easy to understand when we see the vital and subtle paintings done by him. His creativity and strong personal expression had to lead him into the visual arts! The paintings are based on surrealism, and can make associations to Gerhard Richter, but he has a personal twist, which places the expression and style into the contemporary. The nonfigurative works span all the registers with strong contrasts, both in shape, shade and color, they contain musicality and rhythm dance; This is a festival artist who deserves his place!
Concert at the exhibition Thursday 6th of July at 13:00
Øystein Hvamen Rasmussen and Bendik Giske: Klabauter
Based on Tor Hvamens improvised surrealism, Øystein Hvamen Rasmussen and Bendik Giske create a work for percussion and saxophone. Giske’s recent projects deal with the saxophone as solo instrument, where rhythmic structures and expanded instrumentation create a sound image that can be associated with electronic music. ØHR’s rhythmic understanding of jazz and klezmer forms the basis for extended compositions with room for improvisas where rhythmic structures are everything.
