Pictures and reviews:

JazzyJazz consists of seven members who were first united in August 2017, when they started in the same class in the music department at Kongsberg Secondary School. They are all 17 years old with ambitions to perform music. With two vocalists (Oda Høiberg and Ingebjørg Sæther Ribberud), a pianist (Einar Hjelle Løkling), a bassist (Hallgeir Mandelid Østensen), a drummer (Eoin O'Sullivan), a guitarist (Maja Lund Olstad) and a saxophonist (Mattias Djupnes Neteland), the band covers almost all musical needs within their chosen playing style and music genre, namely jazz. JazzyJazz initially only plays cover songs such as "Feeling Good" and "Redbone", but one should not ignore the fact that there will soon be an original, as the band wants to develop in several areas.

A very rare characteristic of soulfulness Lisa Nybrotts music. Her vocal splendor can give associations to artists such as Norah Jones, John Legend and Amy Winehouse. Lisa Nybrott an artist who gives her all. With her soulful music and silky smooth voice, she doesn't just reach out to people, she reaches inn to people. Nybrott released his debut album last year and is undoubtedly an artist we will be hearing more from in the future. The band consists of Hans Henrik Grønsleth (piano), Kjell Audun Holestøl (bass), Mats Lillehaug (drums) and Marius Solevågseide (choir).

The trio Five Dragons met at jazzlinja in Stavanger, autumn 2016. Since then they have played concerts around Eastern Norway, including in Oslo and Fredrikstad, and at the jazz club Spor 5 in Stavanger, always to a good response and good contact with the audience. The line-up of vocals, double bass and drums provides room for an open soundscape that the trio knows how to explore. Lyrical melodies, good bass lines and driving riffs are mixed with lyrics about both the funny and the things that touch us, which together become the music of Fem Drager. In this way, the music becomes rich and exciting, without becoming inaccessible. Both regular concert-goers and those deeply interested in music will enjoy the concerts that have provoked laughter, tears, head bobbing and rocking feet, with a trio that plays unceremonious quality jazz.

Pauline Voss makes pop music with inspiration from several genres. She has a background as a classical cellist and has participated as singer and cellist on more than 80 Norwegian and foreign recordings. She comes to Kongsberg Jazzfestival with 3 of her regular band colleagues, Ola Aanje (guitar/choir), Helge Nysted (piano) and Torstein Kinn (double bass/choir) - and is too veteran to count in Festivalgata where she has played 5 times previously. Photo: Dagfinn Hobæk

Kongsberg Big Band - The band, which has previously had so many up-and-coming talented jazz musicians in its ranks, has again brought with it a group of exciting young talents. Jarle Storløkken has arranged well-known songs by Steely Dan, John Scofield and Prince. Together with some songs created by the band's own young talents, this forms concerts with a large range and room for many soloist elements. Jarle Storløkken and Jon Gunnar Tovsrud have collaborated to get the band in top shape and will lead it during the festival.

Dark roast released the debut album First Brew in May and celebrates it by embarking on a release tour in the summer of 2018. The band has spent the last 2 years working on writing, producing and recording what has now become an album. The band draws its inspiration from both the raw and soulful 70s soul and from today's modern soul and r&b. IN First Brew Dark Roast have cooked up 10 tracks for their first brew. With hard wind lines, old instruments and tight beats, this will be a party night with a high sweat factor. Johan Helland (vocals), Audun Haave Reknes (keys), Markus Hafsund Gundersen (bass), Bård Jønland Berg (drums), Daniel Deltchev (saxophone), Adrian Barstad Andresen (trumpet).

Ole K has been a DJ around Norway since the end of the nineties, mainly in bars and clubs in Oslo, Stavanger and Tromsø (also some late nights at Circa Cafe in Kongsberg, early 2000s). He plays a blissful mix of (mostly older) soul, funk, yacht rock, disco and pop. Not too weird, not too straight, but very dance-friendly.
