What happens when sound turns into image – and image turns into sound?
Fear of the Object invites you to a concert experience where the boundaries between music, technology and space are blurred.
The project stems from the collaboration between video artists Kjell Bjørgeengen and the percussionists Chris Cogburn og Ingar ZachTogether they have developed a distinctive audiovisual expression, where resonance, vibration and space are the very material. Starting from the objects on the percussion table, a living sound and image universe is built in real time – where everything occurs in the moment.
Around the core of the trio, the project expands with an international team of musicians: sound artist Aimée Theriot and experimental musician and vocalist Andrea Giordano.
Through the use of oscillators og new technology sound is transformed directly into visual expressions, which in turn influence and shape back into sound. The result is a continuous exchange between what we see, what we hear – and the space we are in. The Silver Hall becomes not just a stage, but an active participant in the concert.
Fear of the Object works at the intersection of the planned and the unpredictable. Architecture, objects and acoustics are not just frames, but premises that shape the music there and then. Each concert is thus unique – a meeting between artistic choices and physical surroundings.
The project has developed in collaboration with a number of prominent musicians, and is behind the releases FEAR OF THE OBJECT (2023) and LEAVES NEVER FALL IN VAIN (2024). The new album ALL HEARD AS ONLY THEN will also be released in spring 2026.
