Commission for Kongsberg Jazz 2019
Since his debut album “Blikkspor” (2013), Erlend Apneseth’s career has proceeded at high speed. His three latest albums have been nominated for Spellemann awards and appeared on “best album” lists by BBC Music Magazine, Le Monde and The Chicago Reader.
Apneseth’s background is as a Hardanger fiddle player in the folk music tradition, but he has also explored composition and improvisation. In addition to his musical collaborations, he has worked together with performers from other art forms, such as dansers, actors and poets.
He has garnered stunning reviews in national and international media and has won several awards.
Commission for Kongsberg Jazz 2019
As part of his work as Buskerud county’s musician-in-residence for 2019, Apneseth has composed a new work that will be premiered at this year’s festival. Apneseth will bring a dream team of musicians to perform the piece.
“Erlend Apneseth is part of the folk music culture that Buskerud county council considers important to sustain. Thanks to his position and professionalism, he is a role model and an inspiration, especially for younger folk musicians.” (Tonje Kristiansen, head of the culture committee in Buskerud).
