Electrocutango w/Julia Zenko
On Wednesday evening we get a taste of Argentina in Christian's basement when Sverre Indris Joner comes with his acclaimed tango project Electrocutango. With them especially for this evening they have the Argentinian singer Julia Zenko.
Electrocutango has been praised at home and abroad for its innovative way of mixing tango rhythms with electronic effects. Electrocutango gives the tango an update with elements of electronics, jazz, r'n'b and various Latino elements. Tango's melancholy lies at the bottom, but the music is danceable and full of joie de vivre!
Exporting tango to Argentina may be a bit like selling sand in the Sahara, but Electrocutango has had great success on its visits to tango's homeland. At the prestigious Academia Nacional Del Tango (Argentine National Tango Academy), the band's prime mover, Sverre Indris Jones, received the honorary Académico Correspondiente from the great Argentine tango poet Horacio Ferrer. The latter is i.a. known for his collaboration with the national icon Astor Piazzolla.
Julia Zenko is an Argentine singer and actor with a long list of records, awards and performances on his conscience. This spring, she is current as a soloist in the performance Maria de Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla at the Norwegian Opera.
