The innovative saxophonist Derek Brown hails from Chicago. He travels the world and plays in various bands and projects, where he crosses genres such as jazz, funk and pop. His ability to mix beatboxing with saxophone makes his playing style unique, impressing his audiences worldwide. He is currently involved in a number of projects, including his vocal/instrumental band The Derek Brown Syndicate and Chicago funk/fusion supergroup Low Spark. But to Kongsberg Jazzfestival he comes with his signature solo show, "BEATBoX SAX."

This year we are lucky enough to have Derek Brown open the Jazzbox, where he plays before and just after Jazzprat. You will also have the opportunity to hear him play in several places throughout the festival.
