Over the course of her illustrious career spanning four decades, Grammy and Tony Award-winning jazz diva Dee Dee Bridgewater has risen to the top among today's jazz vocalists. She has her own unique style, and boldly puts her own stamp on jazz classics.
Dee Dee Bridgewater, born in Memphis, Tennessee, began her career in the early 70s and worked with several of the greatest jazz musicians of the time such as Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gorden and Dissy Gillespie. She has an impressive catalog with several Grammy-winning albums and is considered a great jazz voice internationally - particularly known for her good timing and raspy vibrato.
She has been to the Kongsberg Jazz Festival several times before, and that er a reason for her to be invited back!
