CANCELED: Craig Taborn & Chris Potter
Pianist Craig Taborn and saxophonist Chris Potter are among the most popular and respected musicians on today's international jazz scene. Now we get to experience them as a duo at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival.

Craig Taborn is compared to legends such as Paul Bley and Keith Jarrett. He has taken part in over 90 recordings, in addition to 11 under his own name, and this says everything about how recognized and in demand he is. Craig Taborn has been inspired by various pianists such as Duke Ellington and Cecil Taylor - and by free jazz and classical music at the same time. He uses various keyboard instruments and feels just as at home with a synthesizer as with a grand piano. It is a great listening pleasure to witness Craig Taborn's creative and cross-genre exploration and his stylistic diversity - from intense and energetic outcomes to lyrical soundscapes.
Chris Potter has distinguished himself both as an instrumentalist, composer and band leader. He has released a wide range of critically acclaimed records and is constantly winning awards and topping musician polls. His musical starting point can be said to be Sonny Rollins, but over the years he has been inspired by many sources, and on his latest album, circuits, we find elements of R & B, funk and hip hop in the basic jazz idiom. Potter is a great role model for younger saxophonists, and he has played with a wide range of musicians from jazz's elite series, such as Pat Metheny, Dave Holland, Paul Motion and many more. He is now approaching fifty and has taken a natural position as a top international musician - both with the critics and an ever-growing audience.
