Charlotte Hug

Concert starts: 13:00 Single ticket price: NOK 200

That Switzerland is a hotbed for some of the best in freer improvised music, we have more living proof of at this year's festival. One of the most exciting is called Charlotte Hug. Not only does she use her instrument – the viola – in her very personal way, she improvises, composes and experiments.

To say that all this happens in an unconventional way would be a considerable understatement. In 2008, we experienced her both in solo, duo and trio contexts. This year she is back with a new solo concert at Galleri Åkern, one of our most distinctive concert venues. This must be right up front for Charlotte Hug. She loves special settings for her music – like when she gave a concert on a glacier in the Alps. For us, the audience, however, our venue is preferable. Here we get intimate concerts with an unprecedented closeness to the music and the musicians. What we will hear at this concert, nobody knows until it is played. But there is no doubt that this will be a new great improvised musical experience at Åkern.
