Bugge Wesseltoft: New Conception of Jazz – 2016 Edition
Bugge Wesseltoft's style-creating "New Conception of Jazz" is resurrected in 2016 with a new generation of jazz musicians.
Few Norwegian musicians left their mark on the European jazz scene in the 1990s and 2000s as Bugge Wesseltoft did with his popular project "New Conception of Jazz". Together with key musicians such as French Erik Truffaz and Nils Petter Molvær, he mixed electronic elements and jazz, and with this New Conception of Jazz to a separate term within the genre electronic jazz. After 400 concerts all over the world and style-creating record releases such as New Conception of Jazz (1996) and Moving (2001), the band took a break in 2006. Ten years later, Bugge Wesseltoft breathes life into the project again - this time with a whole new generation of young musicians.
The audience can expect to hear both new and old material when New Conception of Jazz 2016 Edition occupies Energimølla on Thursday night. One thing is sure; it will be danceable, groovy and electric!
