Bobo Stenson Trio
– groundbreaking, wild, virtuosic, lyrical – and dazzlingly beautiful.

Swedish pianist Bobo Stenson has been a mainstay of European jazz for more than 40 years. In the ECM record label's calendar of honors, he stands alongside giants such as Keith Jarrett and Jan Garbarek – and his collaboration with Garbarek is one of the cornerstones of modern jazz history.
In recent decades, Stenson has had his own trio, where he, together with Anders Jormin og Jon Fält explores a musical landscape where improvisation, sound and composition are seamlessly woven together. Jormin has been a supporting player from the very beginning, while Fält took over the drum stool after Jon Christensen and Paul Motian in 2008. The interaction between the three is intuitive, dynamic and full of musical excess – a living conversation on stage.
On the trio's latest album SPHERE (2023), released on ECM, we encounter music by Jean Sibelius, Sven-Erik Bäck and Norwegian Alfred Janson, side by side with their own compositions. The result is a holistic and distinctive expression – where every note bears the signature of three musicians who constantly find new spaces in the jazz tradition.
Bobo Stenson Trio represents the very best in contemporary Scandinavian jazz – with an expression that is both poetic and uncompromising.
