Bernhoft + Jamie Cullum (Support: Knut Anders Sørum)

Concert start: 19:00 Price single ticket: 490 + bill tax, -

Earl Bernhoft started his career as a vocalist in the rock band Span, but after the band's disbandment in 2005 chose to change musical territory. The music he now plays is a wonderful mix of funk and soul, and within a few years he has managed to build up a solid fan base and be named Norway's soul prince time and time again.

Three years after he had his big breakthrough with Solidarity Breaks, the Spellemann-winning hit album that has sold over a quarter of a million copies worldwide, Jarle Bernhoft is back with the sequel Islander. On his third solo album, Bernhoft takes inspiration from, among other things, Swedish pop, Carole King's intricate folk rock and the pioneering soul music of Stevie Wonder and Sly Stone, of course with particularly melodious and catchy results. First single from the album, Come around, was released recently, and went straight into the A-list at P1.

At Kongsberg, Bernhoft plays a solo concert, but with a formidable loop technique, he manages all by himself to create a soundscape where it sounds like at least ten skilled musicians are playing to the best of their ability.

Since the smash success in 2003 with the record "Twentysomething" has Jamie cullum took the world by storm. With a Grammy, two Golden Globes, two BRIT Awards and a whole host of other awards and nominations in his pocket, Jamie Cullum is considered the most successful British jazz artist of all time. He has written music for London's West End, for the BBC, and has toured the world.

In 2013, Cullum's sixth album "Momentum" was released, and it is clear that he can still both charm and impress. Cullum has sold over ten million records worldwide, making him Britain's best-selling jazz artist of all time. He appeals as much to those who like pop and rock as to the jazz audience, and is often referred to as a modern Frank Sinatra.

It has been 12 years since Cullum, then a young shooting star, took off running and jumped over the grand piano before delivering a smashing concert during the Kongsberg Jazz Festival in 2005. Since then, he has been high on the festival audience's wish list, and we are proud and happy finally able to announce that the driving good entertainer is once again a guest at Kongsbergjazz!

Support: Knut Anders Sørum
