Poetry oasis: Bergman & Brennhaug

Concert start: 15:00 Single ticket price: NOK 350

For many, she is just the song "Politics". For others, Marie Bergman is one of Sweden's greatest artists. At the Kongsberg Jazz Festival, she plays with the northern Norwegian golden throat Sigrid Brennhaug.

It is now over ten years since Sigrid and Marie met for the first time. It was after Marie's concert in Drammen's Theater that Sigrid contacted the Swedish star and hummed a couple of her songs. Marie Bergman liked what she heard, and shortly afterwards Sigrid visited her in Stockholm.

- Herre Je och vid alla gudinnor – what a songstress she is, exclaimed Marie Bergman when she heard Sigrid for the first time. God's grace! Really badass!

The intention was that the visit should be used for singing lessons and inspiration, but the girls found the tone. Rehearsals took place, which resulted in the Bergman & Brennhaug project and nationwide tours. Two generations meeting in one voting party.

Marie Bergman stands for quality

With her personality, dynamic singing and guitar playing, Marie Bergman stands for Swedish quality. Every record collection should contain at least one Marie Bergman disc! Already at the age of 14, she performed at "Storken" in Stockholm together with Cornelis Vreeswijk. After 12 records, she threw herself into jazz, and toured e.g. with Danmarks Radios Storband. Her interpretations of Bellman and Evert Taube are superb, and in a number of her intelligent shows and songs she demonstrates her enormous voice.

Marie Bergman has an impressive track record in her luggage. She has released 18 albums, twelve with her own material. The latest in 2014: The human factor. She has been named by Dagens Nyheter i Sverige as the great-grandmother of Scandinavia's singer/songwriters, musician, brilliant guitarist, professor and inspiration for a large number of singers. For many years, she has been one of Scaniavia's most personal and clear voices with a power and closeness. With her strong and personal voice, Marie radiates timelessness and vitality.

She started her career at vice clubs in the 60s under, among other things, Fred Åkerstrõm's and Cornelis Vreeswijk's wings. She has won the Swedish melody festival 3 times and has won a number of awards for her work. Bergman often holds seminars and teaches e.g. at the Music Schools in Copenhagen and Paris.

Sigrid Brennhaug, the northern Norwegian golden throat

Sigrid Brennhaug, resident of Hemnesberget, has long been on the Norwegian music scene. She has collaborated with a number of artists and is, among other things, a vocalist in the soul jazz band the Real Thing and in 2007 Sigrid was featured in the performance "Laidies Night" at the Edderkoppen teatewr together with Trine Rein, Thorild Sivertsen, Marianne Hansen and Jørn Hoel. Sigrid worked as a full-time musician for many years, she is a qualified assistant professor and currently works as a teacher at the music school in Hemnes and as a part-time musician with the whole of Norway as a catchment area. Sigrid has a magnificent voice and an ability to communicate that is unique. She has a large audience that knows how to appreciate her.

This is a reunion between two great female vocalists, a collaboration that started in 2002. The collaboration came about by pure chance where Brennhaug came into contact with Bergman after a solo concert Bergman had in Drammen Teater. The meeting resulted in Brennhaug taking singing lessons with the Swedish singing star and together they did two long tours in 2003 and 2004, from Bergen in the West to Svalbard in the North. This is a musical reunion where we can guarantee a great concert experience with two of Scandinavia's greatest female vocalists

6 – Ranablad: A festive performance like no other

6 – Helgeland Arbeiderblad: Together they are fire and flame. In any case, the reception was enormous. The concert with Sigrid Brennhaug and Marie Bergman will be remembered as one of the greatest. In any case, several people tell me that they have never experienced anything like it.

6 – The cairn: Girls with soul and energy!

6 – Romsdal's Messenger: Brilliant vocal duo.

6 – Romerikes Blad: Swedish-Norwegian song fireworks

6 – Demands of the times: "Shit good" at Dødeladen

6 – Drammens Tidende: The greatest vocal performance I have experienced

5 – Gudbrandsdølen Dagningen: Bergman's rusty melodious voice and Brennhaug's juicy raw were a perfect match.

5 – Kragerøavisa: Performed musically, naturally choreographed and so varied that everyone thrives and is entertained.

5 – Meløyavisa: Soul mates. They challenge each other on stage to a musical game that hits home with the audience.

5 – Moving forward: Strong combination of Swedish-Norwegian voting power

5 – The Lofoten Post: Musical joy.

5 – Tønsbergs Blad: Marie Bergmann and Sigrid Brennhaug put on a terrific and incredibly intense show.
