Too many are The front garden in Smeltehytta on Saturday afternoon, the highlight of the Kongsberg jazz festival. Here you can hear the surprising constellations, musicians who are rarely heard on other Norwegian stages and musicians with a foothold in anything but the mainstream.
We get three departments in this concert.
In the trio Azkadenya Sidsel Endresen, Vilde & Inga show Smeltehytta's audience how freely improvised music sounds at its best. Christian Wallumrød is a versatile artist. Here he will play solo, and we can expect a suggestive, fairly muted sequence, or...? Finally comes Roger Turner og Thomas Lehn – both improv veterans. Big and happy surprises await!
Azkadenya is a new trio, consisting of Sidsel Endresen, Inga Margrete Aas and Vilde Sandve Alnæs. Azkadenya plays freely improvised music, with voice, violin and double bass. With unconventional use of all the instruments, the trio achieves a rich soundscape.
Aas and Alnæs have played together in the duo Vilde&Inga for five years. In 2014, they released their debut album 'Makrofauna' on ECM. In recent years, Endresen has had long-term collaborations and various publications with: Christian Wallumrød/Helge Sten, i.a. in Merriwinkle; in duo with Håkon Kornstad; in duo with Jan Bang, and in duo with Stian Westerhus.
Aas, Alnæs and Endresen have previously worked together in Sekstetten, an ensemble Endresen initiated, together with Christian Wallumrød, Eivind Lønning and Espen Reinertsen.
