Arild Andersen: Anniversary concert
The great jazz nestor of our time!
Arild Andersen - the great jazz hero of our time turns 75, and it will be celebrated with an anniversary concert during the Kongsberg Jazz Festival. He has assembled a dream team of musicians, but they have never played together before. The team consists of saxophonist Trygve Seim, guitarists George "Jojje" Wadenius and Frode Alnæs, Thomas Strønen on drums and Arild Andersen himself on bass. What a gift package!
Few Norwegian jazz musicians are as well known to a large audience as Arild Andersen. Together with Karin Krog, Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypdal and Jon Christensen, he ensured an international breakthrough for Norwegian jazz from around 1970. Over the years, he has collaborated with an impressive number of jazz musicians, and he has been involved in some of the finest jazz groups we have heard, such as the Jan Garbarek Quartet, Masqualero, own trios and quartets. In recent years we have heard him in the quartet with Helge Lien, Marius Neset and Håkon Mjåset Johansen. His interest in Norwegian traditional music resulted in the works "Sagn" and "Arv" in close collaboration with the Kvedar Kirsten Bråten Berg. Even though Arild Andersen is now in his mid-70s, he is just as ravenous for new challenges, and he plays finer bass than ever before.
