Band and parade workshop 2025

On Wednesday, July 2, the Kongsberg Jazz Festival opens with a grand opening parade. This kicks off the festival and brings all of Kongsberg together for dance, music, life and excitement.

And once again, the city will be turned on its head! Kongsberg is known for cultivating many talented musicians, and we believe that the jazz festival and workshop are an important reason for this. The parade workshop is organized in collaboration with Kongsberg Kulturskole.

The Band and Parade workshops emphasize working by ear - that is, without sheet music. The instructors will also teach improvisation. The workshop ends with the jazz festival's opening parade, and/or a concert on one of the festival's outdoor stages.

All the instructors are experienced musicians who participate in a number of renowned bands and musical projects. All of them also have extensive experience as instructors on various courses and in cultural contexts.

Age limit?
Parade workshop:
Lower age limit 10 years and you must have played for at least 2-3 years.

Band workshop
Lower age limit 14 years and you must have played for at least 2-3 years.
