B3 SOUND!

There must necessarily be something special about a musician who gets a contract with one of the world's biggest record companies, Columbia Records, as a 16-year-old, who releases his first record the following year and goes on tour with Miles Davis as a 17-year-old.

And there's something special about Joey DeFrancesco! Those who had turned up for the festival concert in the Kongsberg cinema on 7 July 1993 got the mark started. The 22-year-old organ player almost put guitar guru John McLaughlin in the shade. He has been given the main credit for making the organ central to jazz again. The renowned jazz magazine Jazz Times has named him "the best B3 player on the planet". Inspired by his time in the Miles Davis band, he also started playing the trumpet. He is also a master on that instrument! He will probably pick out the trumpet when he is now going to play at Energimølla. For that concert he brings one of jazz's finest drummers, Billy Hart himself! Saxophonist Troy Roberts will undoubtedly contribute to the high level.

He has won four soloist awards in a row in Downbeat's musician polls!
