ASMUNDSEN & CO PAY TRIBUTE TO A LEGEND

The bassist Tine Asmundsen likes to pay tribute to musicians she thinks deserve a lot of attention. Now the turn has come to her partner of many years, Vidar Johansen. She has many people with her when she claims that Vidar Johansen is one of the finest composers in Norwegian jazz history. Now he has made a selection of his own songs and arranged them for Tine's band - where he himself is a central member. Vidar Johansen is recognized as a brilliant soloist on saxophone and flute, and therefore also as a composer. His compositions are like a hidden treasure that is now being brought to light. The project will be a summary of a long career, but also a revitalization of the compositions with new arrangements written especially for the musicians in Tine's band. Fortunately, Asmundsen & Co consists of the same musicians who played at the festival in 2017 – among others. a. the trumpeter Magnus Aannestad Oseth from Steinberg. It should guarantee a brilliant concert where we get to hear jazz with great audience appeal. Even those who claim that they "don't like jazz" can safely go to this concert!
