The Chick Corea Electric Band
The Chick Corea Elektric Band is one of the very few jazz ensembles that have truly revolutionized the art form. Their self-titled debut album came like lightning out of the blue in 1985, where they paired jazz, rock, Latin and funk with the speed of a high-speed train with sonic inventions that still sound futuristic.
The classic quintet – featuring Chick Corea on piano, Dave Weckl on drums, John Patitucci on bass, Eric Marienthal on sax, Frank Gambale on guitar – produced a stunning string of hit albums in the 1980s. A shock wave of influence goes from hip-hop to EDM and to today's most essential jazz performers such as Snarky Puppy.
The bassist Nathan East replaces John Patitucci for this year's concert at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival. The remaining four are the same as 30 years ago.

This exclusive concert was one of the highlights of Chick's 75th anniversary celebration, a full year of worldwide creative experiences, culminating in a two-month artist-in-residence at New York's Blue Note Jazz Club. This concert is exclusive to Scandinavia.
- It is great fun to be able to present a band that has meant so much to several generations of jazz lovers. The fact that the concert is exclusive to Scandinavia will hopefully lead to many wanting to secure this treat, says festival manager Kai Gustavsen.
